A half-century ago, all my counter-culture buddies and I would have said “right on!” to student protests (against the war in Vietnam and LBJ for the misery he wrought on people in one of the world’s most beautiful countries and countless American families in exchange for enriching his Texan cronies with blood money).
But now? With this ship of masked fools?
We’re all at a loss.
Is this because we have aged into the “silent majority,” not respecting the foresight, uh, folly of youth?
I don’t think so.
What went down at Columbia University and UCLA, and still going down at universities across the land, is old fashioned BS (not the degree).
Maybe students (if that’s who they truly be) presumably think it’s clever being rebellious just for the sheer hell of it.
But, as we all recall, student protests in the 1960s were based on peace and love, not hatred; it was largely an intellectual movement that knew its facts.
How very sad that today’s youth has nothing better to rebel against. Or that they allow themselves to be so badly misinformed and misled by miscreants masquerading as mentors.
Instead, our upcoming generations are reduced to bigotry, perhaps because their parents have not paid enough attention to the mind corruption of their children at the hands of propagandists pretending to educate.
If one pays attention to the tents set up by fanatical extremists, one can see that most of them emanate from the same maker.
Question: Who’s doing the quarter-mastering?
Gee, you think it might be the country that just offered scholarships + room & board to all expelled students?
Go! Please! Get the fuck out of here!
Most of these pampered wimps wouldn’t last a week under strict sharia law (which probably doesn’t recognize “gluten-free” as a thing, though I do hope such “students” take the opportunity to learn something, say, the difference between freedom and thralldom. But hopefully they’ll get stuck there and never be allowed to return to the USA.
Yeonmi Park, a defector from a second country to which expelled students might consider resuming their studies, in her 2015 memoir likened Columbia University to her native country after discovering that her fellow students were “brainwashed like North Korean children are.”
Hate crimes and civil rights violations are under federal jurisdiction.
So where do U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray stand on what has been taking place?
I conducted a news sweep. Not a peep.
As for Joe Biden’s sickly stance: He has spent his whole political career as a fume of flatulence, flurrying wherever the wind might favor him.
Never in my life did I ever think I would see students linking arms to prevent Jewish students accessing campus buildings. I literally could not believe what I was seeing. This is a bunch of people that talk about equity, kindness and inclusion on the one hand, yet on the other, they are right back in 1933. I just don't get it. It's bonkers. I can understand students in 1968 protesting the Vietnam war. The students of 2024? They are at best, total idiots that I have unending contempt for.
Love the Johnathan Swift reference. Have three copies of O'Toole's book from the 60s as well. They all end the same though.
