My appearance on Substack (since February) succeeded my blog, Clubhouse on Wheels (featuring mostly road trips), which I retired from service in April after nine years and 2,527,023 views.
Substack was initially meant to be a venue for my weekend column in the Santa Barbara News-Press.
However, that newspaper ceased operations in July and I have since branched out into other directions.
Fortunately, a number of folks who enjoyed my newspaper column figured out how to find me here. I’m grateful for their continued interest in my reflections, ruminations and rhetoric from the road, political rants (can’t help myself, sorry), assorted pics plus memoir (on “throwback Thursdays”) and fiction (my Saturday Evening Posts).
Sometime very soon I plan to implement paid subscriptions. It will be modest—very modest—and it will be VOLUNTARY.
I’m not a huge fan of paywalls so I fully understand if readers prefer not to commit to payment. I am grateful that folks are interested to read what I write at a time when so much content exists from which to choose for leisure reading.
A bunch of readers have already so very kindly pledged funds. (I have not yet benefitted from these pledges and I’ve been in no hurry to do so.) Their generosity and support surprised me and warmed my soul. As I understand it, these funds become available to me (minus a 10% commission for Substack) once I click an icon that allows for paid subscriptions.
Please do not be misled when, in the coming weeks, paid subscriptions are offered. As I mentioned, this will be on a voluntary basis only. No paywall.
To those who receive posts by text or email directly from me, please note: I will no longer distribute this way. The reason for this is that I do not wish to inundate anyone with posts they may prefer not to receive.
If you would like to view posts as they appear, please click the subscribe icon—it’s free!
Otherwise, feel welcome to tune in at Roberteringer.substack.com at your leisure.
To all those who currently subscribe, thank you for your continued interest.
