This hotel has two themes:
Doris Day and dogs.
Much of the art is comprised of vintage posters (and other graphic art) about movies in which Doris Day starred along with all the leading men of her day. (A TV set in the bar loops old Doris Day movies.) Glass cabinets display mementoes that highlight her life and career.
As such, this hotel is really an art installation devoted to Doris—a museum that pays for itself by providing accommodation and refreshment while keeping her memory alive and providing canine comfort.
Doris Day’s only child and best friend, Terry Melcher, who sadly pre-deceased his mother by 15 years, is memorialized as part of the decor in the hotel bar named after him.
