“PUTIN IS MAKING HIS PLANS BRUTALLY CLEAR” (The New York Times)
I am absolutely astonished when people tell me Donald Trump as president would have handed Ukraine to Putin on a silver platter.
That kind of thinking begs this question: If that’s the case, why didn’t Putin invade Ukraine while Trump was in the White House?
Joe Biden’s weak presidency not only opened the door for four million immigrants to enter the United States illegally, it opened the door for Putin to invade Ukraine and also opened the door for Hamas to cross the border from Gaza into Israel and commit mind-boggling.
These hotbeds of murder and mayhem and misery did not exist in 2019.
“WORLD IN PRE-WAR PHASE” (The Sun)
This headline comes from a speech delivered today by UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps.
The Axis countries (Russia, China, Iran, North Korea) are bonding and mobilizing.
And while a complacent USA is dependent on other countries for its needs and preoccupied with socio-cultural “progressiveness,” a cancerous tumor is metastasizing around the globe. If we are not strong and decisive going forward, it will consume our children and grandchildren.
“GERMANY IS PREPARING FOR PUTIN ATTACK AGAINST NATO IN 2025” (Daily Mail)
The German newspaper Bild leaked a secret document titled “Alliance Defense 2025” that analyzes the looming threat from Russia.
This follows the Swedish defense minister warning his countrymen to…
“BRACE FOR WAR & PREPARE FOR THE END OF 210 YEARS OF PEACE” (Daily Mail)
I'd argue it was post covid and many of their homes were decimated by it that so influx would have likely happened under any president, but since immigration is a classic political science dog whistle that comes up every time a party has no real platform and border policy sucks BECAUSE major industries need cheap labor, that's another debate. But to say Putin wouldn't have invaded Ukraine under Trump is bullshit, he up helped Trump get elected by flooding social media with bots that were pro-Trump and anti-Clinton precisely because Hillary platformed Sanctions for his annexing Crimea in 2014 early in her campaigning.
People were convinced Hillary was sacrificing babies in pizza-shop basements in 2015 and while I'm no fan of Hillary, the level of propaganda created a cult like effect that people who spent alot of time on social media now suffer from a level of cognitive dissonance where they automatically disregard even their own experts if it conflicts with the words of a man who admittedly says stupid shit and has been embroiled in controversy since i was a child in the 80s. Not only would it have happened under Trump, but Trump wouldn't have done anything about it the same way he took Putin's word over his own intel community RIGHT after the Solarwind hack story broke. That meeting in Helsinki should have gone down way differently.
If nothing else this war exposed Russia as a paper-tiger and this was painfully illustrated early on when they rolled out ancient equipment and had little to no logistics support. DOD Analysts stated as much in the early 2000s but it was far worse than they anticipated and reminded me of the 80s right before the Soviet union fell they had to admit threat was never as massive as they made it out to be. You can pretend the previous administration was all rainbows and peace but at the end of the day you argue for a stronger leader but Trump was quite possibly the weakest in my lifetime. His foreign policy was to publicly choose dictators words like Putin and MBS over his own intel agencies, His Bromance with North Korea was ridiculous and had the opposite effect. His relationship with China made his family millions. His attitude with our allies showed little solidarity. His seditious words after losing while ignoring his own experts and advisors led to Jan6th. His dereliction of duty for hours that day should have seen him jailed.
