Beanie Baby billionaire Ty Warner’s Coral Casino Beach & Cabana Club (the actual beach is public) has been shuttered up since March 2020 when Covid struck.
As Ty finally prepares to reopen the club this fall, he is apparently taking his revenge on the old-time members who joined decades ago for a pittance. (Membership buy-in is now reported to be close to a hefty half mil.)
Monthly membership dues pre-Covid were in the region of $500 per month.
An email from Coral management sent to club members last week notified them that monthly dues will henceforth (upon reopening) increase to approximately four times that amount.
Much to the further dismay of old-timers, Ty’s new Coral Club restaurant, which will be run by Thomas Keller (of French Laundry fame), will no longer be private for club members but will be open (horrors!) to the public.
For years (actually a few decades) the old-timers have resisted Ty’s renovations and improvements by taking legal action against him at almost every juncture.
The payback’s a bitch.
