(If you’re going to drive in part blizzard & near whiteout conditions, best to have a snow plow in front of you leaving a trail of salt & grit in its tracks. Worked great until the driver looped off and U-turned….)
Longest haul yet: Sedona to Santa Fe, 452 miles.
Interesting to note (for me, anyway):
Chevron got me 18-19 miles per gallon for the first two legs of the journey.
Mobil: 16.2 mpg. Boo.
Switched to Shell: 17.2.
An old friend sent me a news item headlined “What You Should Order at McDonald’s, According to Nutritionists.”
I haven’t been inside a McDonald’s in years, but two days ago in Blythe I decided to give “road food” a whirl.
Big mistake.
I ordered—as recommended—the classic hamburger. The pickles and minced onion were edible… but even Lulu refused the leftover beef patty.
So today, in a blizzard near Flagstaff, I gave Mac a second chance near Flagstaff. This time—also recommended—an Egg McMuffin.
Edible, yes… but I could hardly believe it cost over seven bucks.
Further down I-10 East, it’s back to 2WD and—for the first time this trip—sunny skies as we glide into…
And hours later come nightfall..
